Welcome to PAIDES, a blog all about current international research into children, everyday lives, environments, relationships and cultures in the ancient world. This is a joint project between Dr April Pudsey (Newcastle University) and Dr Ville Vuolanto (University of Oslo).
The aim of this blog is to present and discuss current international academic research in reconstructing everyday lives and textured worlds across the Graeco-Roman world, from around 500 BCE to around 700 CE. This will include exploration of the worlds of children, adolescents, and older people across the ancient Mediterranean.
We will update and feature guest posts from archaeologists, ancient historians and classicists working in the field. We’ll also share news of relevant conferences, workshops, seminars and other events.
If you have any questions, or indeed would like to write a feature for this blog, please contact:

Please also share any interesting items, links, discussion and questions around these themes, using the hashtag #paides on Twitter.
